Going further back in time, we have Laraine Day and Leo Durocher (although he was no longer a player but rather a baseball manager by the time they married), Mabel Hite and Mike Donlin, and Rube Marquard and Blossom Seeley.

In 1939, Laraine Day signed with MGM, going on to become popular and well-known as "Nurse Mary Lamont", the title character's fiancee in a string of seven "Dr. Kildare" movies beginning with Calling Dr. Kildare (1939). She was married to Ray Hendricks from 1942 to 1947, then to the baseball manager Leo Durocher from 1947 to 1960, while she would sometimes be referred to as "the first lady of baseball".

Michael Joseph Donlin (May 30, 1878–September 24, 1933) was an American outfielder in Major League Baseball who played for the St. Louis Perfectos/Cardinals (1899–1900), Baltimore Orioles (1901), Cincinnati Reds (1902–1904), New York Giants (1904–1908, 1911, 1914), Boston Rustlers (1911), and Pittsburgh Pirates (1912)....On April 11, 1906, Donlin was married to Mabel Hite, a vaudeville and Broadway actress.

Richard William "Rube" Marquard (October 9, 1886 - June 1, 1980) was an American left-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball in the 1910s and early 1920s. He achieved his greatest success with the New York Giants....Marquard was a performer in vaudeville, appearing with Blossom Seeley and later marrying her.
