In the 1985 NBA Draft, Fernando Martin and Georgi Glouchkov were the first Europeans to be drafted.

Hank Biasatti was an Italian-Canadian NBA and MLB player. He was born in Beano (Italy) on January 14, 1922, grew up in Canada and became a naturalized Canadian citizen. He was drafted by the Boston Celtics in 1947 and played 6 games for the Toronto Huskies.
