The Pistol Crab or Pistol Shrimp is the loudest animal living on the earth. With one snap from its claw it creates a bubble of heat (over 4000 degrees celcius) and shoots at desired preys as this happens the bubble pops and creates a sound that even a rocket, whale or any howling monkey can't outbeat.

A little more info

The snapping shrimp competes with much larger animals, like the Sperm Whale and Beluga Whale, for the title of 'loudest animal in the sea'. The pressure is strong enough to kill small fish.[7] It corresponds to a zero to peak pressure level of 218 decibels relative to one micropascal (dB re 1 ìPa), equivalent to a zero to peak source level of 190 dB.

So what I foound was The Pistol Shrimp at 190 dB. and the Blue Whale at 188 dB.

Can the animals you mention compete with a heavy metal musician? Remember, we are animals, too.

In addition to Scottie's post, I'll offer up the following:

Here is a list of various sounds and decibels --

Faintest audible sound 0 dB
Human whisper (at 1 m) 20 dB
Human conversation (at 1 m) 60-70 dB
Power saw (at 1 m) 110 dB
Threshold of pain to the human ear 120-130 dB
Jet engine 140 dB
Peak of symphonic music 140 dB
Peak of rock music 150 dB
Blue whale 188 dB

The blue whale is much louder than a jet, which reaches only 140 decibels! Human shouting is 70 decibels; sounds over 120 decibels are painful to human ears. The second-loudest animal on Earth is the howler monkey (Alouatta) from the jungles of Central and South America.

NOTE: It is important to remember that sound intensity given in underwater dB is not directly comparable to sound intensity given in air dB.
