The bridge with the longest length of unsupported roadway is the Ikitsuki Bridge at Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan with a main span of 400m or 1312ft and was opened in 1991.

The suspension bridge with the longest span is the Akashi-Kaikyo with a span of 1991m at Kobe-Nauto, Japan opened in 1998.
