According to the principals, the longest running sponsorship of a specific team is the Ford Motor Company's association with the Geelong F.C., which started in 1925.

Ford and the Geelong Cats celebrated 90 years of association during the 2015 season, a commitment thought by many to be the longest running sports team partnership in world sport on record.

“There is, and has been, no more enduring relationship and a greater team than Ford Motor Company and the Cats since 1925. Both parties expect this relationship to continue and we are proud to carry the Ford name on our playing jumper.”

In motorsports it was Anheuser-Busch.

A major sponsor in the worldwide sports business, Anheuser-Busch also said its Budweiser brand would end its 30-year backing of the Kenny Bernstein Racing team. Its sponsorship of the team is the longest running in motorsports.

Spot on Geelong FC and Ford some 84 years and still going strong.
