It varies. For example the Spanish Armade was made up of 130 ships.

It appears to vary, as an armada is defined as a fleet of warships.

The "Armada de Molucca" was the official name given to Ferdinand Magellan"s fleet when he set out to circumnavigate the globe. It consisted of five ships.
