Okay, I did not check any sites coroners may lurk around, but did check the following concerning water enchancement of fingernail growth. While some kind of moisturizer is fine and handy, water is not on any list I saw. In fact one, this first one, says jobs and types of athletics that put a person's hands in water a lot (swimming, etc.) cause damage. Every site said vitamins and more good vitamins, plus one, of course, selling a wonder-product too: http://www.bellaonline.com http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/ss/slideshow-nails-and-health
Just got interested because though some do not drink enough water, lots of people simply drink too much and even that could be harmful if a person doesn't exercise as well. Plus, somebody wants longer nails, it seems. http://www.naildoctors.com/

Ignore all special products - stick to vitamins and get calcium in your diet (I find that when I drink more milk, my hair and nails seem grow quicker. Even if this isn't correct, you do need calcium anyway for bone growth and maintenance.) Fingernails do not contain water as a major ingredient. They also do NOT continue to grow after death. What happens is that the flesh and skin shrink away from them, exposing previously hidden growth. Nails don't just start at the surface of the skin - they are produced further in (or else they might fall off....).
See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nail_(anatomy)
and also scopes for the growth legend. (OK, the distance from the tip to the base of the VISIBLE nail increases minutely, but the nail itself doesn't increase overall.)
