The portia tree, a small tree.Species of flowering plant in the mallow family, Malvaceae. or arborescent shrub that is pantropical, found on coasts around the world. However, it's probably native only to the Old World, may have originated from India.

Breadfruit trees (artocarpus altilis), for one, which was the food staple that the HMS Bounty was transporting from Tahiti to the West Indies before Fletcher Christian and his rogue crew took the ship and diverted her to Pitcairn.
