..wyck (pronounced vaik), meaning a quarter, ward, or district, or a retreat or refuge. (Dutch)

So it is another (Dutch) -wick than English wick in Wickham, Wicklow. link http://www.dictionary.com/browse/wick

Wijk/Wick= village. (satguru)
