The little girl who appears as a minor character in the film version of Billy Elliot represents another child of a local family and another sufferer of the Coal Miner's Strike who will be hurt. In the play, this character is replaced by a more prominent character, a little boy. He appears alone onstage at the beginning and through various parts in the stage production.
