In 'Down the Dust Pipe' by Status Quo http://www.hiplyrics.com/lyrics/down-the-dustpipe-by-status-quo-lyrics.html , was there any significance to the term 'kosher cowboy' as I don't think any members were Jewish, or was it about someone else?

I don't know a definite answer but 'kosher' can be used to mean 'genuine/real' so maybe the lyric just means a 'real cowboy'.

It may refer to the song's writer, Carl Groszman, who may have sung the song with the group "Man" before Status Quo got ahold of it. I'm just speculating.

That's a good one. The very fact the song was not their own (which I certainly didn't know) has now taken the search away from Status Quo altogether and will now investigate the original singers/writers, who may well have had a good reason to mention it.

Yep, Carl Groszman was indeed the 'kosher cowboy' in question, solved! link http://www.manband-archive.com/forum/index.php?topic=301.0
