What was real the name of the person who played Sarah the telephone operator on the Andy Griffith Show?

According to this site there was not a telephone operator named Sarah but there a gossiper on the telephone not named played by Sara Seeger.

As far as I can find (and recall), Sara the telephone operator was one of the "Unseen Characters Living in Mayberry- These are "characters" that live in Mayberry that were [only] mentioned." Sara appears on such a list at http://www.mayberry.info/history/index.php?title=Character_List, which is part of a site dedicated to everything about this show. However, a closed-to-new-posts predecessor to that site, "Miss Crump's Blackboard," includes a discussion of what the fans thought Sara looked like.

So, there's contradictory information on the web on whether or not Sara ever actually appeared on the show (if she ever did, it must have been brief!).
