Why was the U.S. first lady Lucy Hayes called "Lemonade Lucy"?

Lucy Webb Hayes sometimes credited as Lemonade Lucy (August 28, 1831 – June 25, 1889) was the wife of President Rutherford B. Hayes of the United States of America and one of the most popular First Ladies of the nineteenth century.

She was a strong supporter of Temperance, and no alcohol was served in the White House during the Hayes administration, prompting the press to dub her "Lemonade Lucy."

Historians christened her "Lemonade Lucy" due to her unwavering support of the temperance movement; however, it appears, she was never referred to by that nickname while living, (It was her husband who banned alcohol from the White House) However another source listed she was never refereed to by this name whilst she served in the white house.
