This question is defying all my attempts to find a web-based answer. I found no available sources to provide the name origin for this small community (and bay) on the north shore of Valdes Island. It is not listed in the 100-year-old 'British Columbia coast names, 1592-1906 : to which are added a few names in adjacent United States territory, their origin and history' by Captain John T. Walbran: nosracines.ca/e/toc.aspx?id=3545, nor is it found in GeoBC (which suggests this is not an "official" name): geobc.for.gov.bc.ca/bcnames/searchForm.html
Another more recent publication, The Encyclopedia of Raincoast Place Names harbourpublishing.com/title/EncyclopediaofRaincoastPlaceNames, may help, but its entries are not web-accessible.
the above links no longer exist
