In a non-leap year, there are 365 days x 24 hours x 60 minutes = 525,600 minutes. In a leap year, 366 x 24 x 60 = 527,040 minutes.

To be precise, the "true" year is the sidereal year, "6 hours and 9.1626 minutes longer than the standard calendar year of 365 SI days," (the difference that leap years exist to adjust for) so that total is 525,600 + 369.1626 = 525,969.1626 minutes (as of noon 1 January 2000). -see link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sidereal_year
