In major league baseball, does a batter have to run the bases after hitting a home run?

Yes, for the purposes of a. for the run to score, you have to touch home, and also, the runners ahead of you have to score, in order.
Approved Ruling (2) of Rule 7.10(b).
also, if you, the batter get injured and cannot finish 'the lap' a pinch runner can be substituted where you became unable to finish.

Although there is nothing in the rules that says a batter has to "run". He/she may walk or, for that matter, crawl around the bases as there is nothing in the rulebook to prohibit that.
