What became of Manchester singer songwriter Craig Davies after 1990?

I have checked several websites and the information on Craig Davies is sparse. He was the singer for the band "The Cradle" and left this band after signing a solo deal with Rough Trade Records. Davies released two albums with Rough Trade, "Like Narcussis" (1988) and "Groovin' on a Shaft Cycle"(1990). He was a very promising talent that dropped suddenly out of the music scene, and no one seems to know why. The explanation is said to have been for personal tragedies, but there has never been an official clarification of this.
