The Ritz Stick was invented in 1913, and patented in 1916.
The Ritz Stick is still being manufactured today (2016) by Woodrow Engineering.

Manufacturer:
American Automatic Devices Co.
Brand Name:
Ritz
Patent/Copyright #1199423

Prior to inventing the device that bares his name the most common foot-sizer in the 1920s was the Ritz Stick, made by the American Automatic Device Company of Chicago. A wooden ruler, the Ritz could measure a foot's width and its length from heel to toe, but not at the same time. The Ritz stick is still a very common device for measuring feet in the U.K. and Europe.

The RITZ stick was a foot size measuring tool (a sort of yardstick) which was replaced the Brannock Device invented by Charles Brannock. ............ link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brannock_Device .... The Brannock Company site doesn't even cite the RITZ name. They just call the earlier device a 'block of wood'! ........ link https://brannock.com/pages/about-us
