Following the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, The Mutawakkilite kingdom was declared by His majesty Amir al-Mumenin al-Mutawakkil 'Ala Allah Rab ul-Alamin Imam Yahya bin al-Mansur Bi'llah Muhammad Hamidaddin, Imam and Commander of the Faithful.
He called his kingdom after one of his own names, Mutawakkil. Its meaning is "having faith in Allah".
