Who is on the South African rand notes?

The colourful current set of South African Rand banknotes was introduced by the South African Reserve Bank in 2012. All banknotes in the series have the portrait of former President of South Africa and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Nelson Mandela on the front side. On the back side is one of the 'Big Five' wildlife animal species.
