The name of the 1587 picture's creator is hard to find, with a reference to Wegener's book Die Wissenschaft in 1917. However earlier drawings have been found by Willem de Pannemaker based on cartoons by Jan Vermeyen in 1546-50 link https://www.google.com/amp/s/listoffigures.wordpress.com/2011/03/16/tornado/amp/
