Jochen Rindt, a German born driver who competed with an Austrian license. He died during the practice session for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza on Sep 5th, 1970. By the end of the race in Monza there were still five competitors having a chance to win the World Championship but eventually none of them won more points than Rindt had already gathered before his death. The championship trophy was handed to his widow Nina by Jackie Stewart on 18 November 1970.
