In a school there are 158 students. Although there are more girls than boys, only 1/11 of the girls wear glasses, while 1/7 of the boys wear them. How many boys and how many girls are in the school?

The number of girls must be more than half of 158, i.e. at least 80. So we need a number greater than 80 which is divisible by 11, and a number smaller than 80 which is divisible by 7, and these numbers must add up to 158.
So we have 88 girls and 70 boys (of whom 8 girls and 10 boys wear glasses).
