FA Cup final v Luton Town at Wembley Stadium.
Attendance 100,000
Result Forest 2 (Dwight, Wilson) Luton Town 1 (Pacey)
... Forest settled the better early on and had several chances before Roy Dwight put Forest ahead after 8 minutes. Two minutes later Tommy Wilson doubled the lead and Forest were in total command. However a massive blow to Forests hopes came later in the first half when Roy Dwight, who is the cousin of Elton John formerly known as Reg Dwight) suffered a broken leg. No substitutes were allowed then and Forest had to survive the remainder of the match with only 10 players. They did until half time, but in the seond half Luton made use of their one man advantage and pulled one back through Dave Pacey. Forest hung on and defended resolutely with Bob McKinlay in outstanding form at the centre of defence and won the trophy.
