LONDON in 1853
Z is for 'Zoo' The London Zoo was the first zoo in the world. More exactly, it was the first zoo to be called a 'zoo.' Previously, zoos had been called menageries or zoological gardens. People started calling London Zoo a 'zoo' thanks to a popular song which went like this: 'Walking in the zoo is an okay thing to do.' (Doo bee doo bee doo.) The London Zoo boasts a number of firsts: world's first aquarium in 1853!
