SHUTTLECOCK,n. cork with a ring of feathers, or a similar plastic device,struck to and fro in badminton.

I have always called it a shuttlecock.

Although the rules published on the site refer to a 'shuttle', the information service at the International Badminton Federation state that the device you strike while playing badminton can be called either shuttlecock or shuttle.
