Actually, it was Nicaragua. The USA was among the 50 to sign the document on June 26, 1945. The USA then ratified the charter on July 28. Nicaragua, however, ratified the charter on July 6.

The date of August 8 is the USA's date of deposit of ratification. In that case, the USA did beat Nicaragua by several weeks (September 6).

(The U.S. ratification followed that of Nicaragua and El Salvador.) The United Nations officially came into existence on October 24, 1945, after the United States, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, China, and France, as well as a majority of the other signatories, had ratified the United Nations Charter.

6 July 1945 - Nicaragua becomes the first country to ratify the Charter of the United Nations
10 July 1945 - El Salvador ratifies the Charter of the United Nations.

The Department of State has been informed that on July 6, 1945 the National Congress of Nicaragua and the President approved the Charter, and certain other countries have taken similar action ; but at this date (Aug. 12, 1945) no state except the United States of America has deposited a formal instrument of ratification. The date of that ratification and of deposit is Aug. 8, 1945.
