8. Scaramouche
In the climactic duel to Scaramouche Stewart Granger and Mel Ferrer successfully pull off the longest sword-fight in film history (a full six and-a-half minutes!)--demolishing a theater in the process--though some viewers may feel cheated by the ending. A movie about little more than swordplay, it has other excellent scenes, including Granger's lessons and the initial and second fight. However, I was wondering if the scene in the Princess Bride atop the Cliffs of Insanity with The Man in Black (Cary Elwes) and the Spaniard, Inigo Montoya (Patinkin) wasn't puposely staged to exceed that. I've only seen the movie once.
