I believe the movie was "Up in Smoke". FIrst, it was on an album they made in the 70's.

It was definitely 'Up in Smoke. Dave went out to get the drugs and when he got back he could not get in he knocked saying 'it's Dave here man' and the response was "Daves not here man" and so around they went for some time
