BRANDY, an alcoholic, potable spirit, obtained by the distillation of grape wine. (Also referred to as a genuine spirit).

If it is pure, it is alcohol (ethanol), if you keep the good bits inside, it is called Marc. Depending on the areas, you can also call it Cognac or Armagnac.
