Exterior filming for this programme was done in a small village called Turville, in Buckinghamshire.
"St Barnabus Church" was actually the Church of St Mary The Virgin, Turville.
The exterior of the "vicarage" was filmed using two cottages in the village, which were made to look like a single building. Scenes inside the vicarage were all filmed in the BBC studios in London.
No luck with finding the road yet though.
I have found it:
We have become addicted to "The Vicar of Dibley" on PBS. Dawn French is a knitter, and wears some outrageous garments, including a jumper with a huge intarsia cross motif. I just love the opening credits with an aerial sweep through the Chilterns (Chicken-shit Pass on the M40), then over the part of Oxfordshire where I spent my teens.
