Queen Marguerite de Valois (1552-1615) of Navarre, Spain, had pockets sewn into the lining or her huge hoopskirt. The pockets held the hearts of her 34 successive sweethearts, each embalmed and sealed in a separate box. http://www.expage.com/spookyfacts

Following the execution of Sir Walter Raleigh, his wife carried his embalmed head around with her - apparently for the next 29 years until her death. Personally I prefer a handbag.
