No they are proper nouns as they are the names of places. Abstract nouns are things like happiness, hatred etc.

Countries and other places have physically defined borders so must surely be concrete rather than abstract. We may not often speak about touching a country but countries can still be reached, crossed, entered, flown over, bombed and so on.

Excuse the naivete of this question; but if I have my hands in the dirt in my garden, am I not touching my country, therefore making it concrete not abstract?
