In football (soccer) is there any rule which prevents a player from lifting a team mate, similarly to a rugby line-out, in order to assist with heading a cross?

I don't think so. Why would one do that anyway? Soccer is a quick game; if you're going to lift your teammate, you better make sure the teammate crossing the ball is very accurate. And also the moment you lift your teammate, the other team would of course become suspicious. They'd obviously get someone to mark the both of you.
