I'm frequently describes as bolshy. Where does the word 'bolshy' come from?

I would guess from "Bolshevik", a Russian political faction aand now means radical or hostile.

http://www.dictionary.com describes 'bolshy' as to mean 'easily offended', with not much mention of 'radical', so I shouldn't imagine it's from Bolshevik. Good idea, though.

According to The Times dictionary, it does come from Bolshevik - because they were regarded here as being a bunch of rebellious, radical, hostile and generally awkward so-and-so's.
