What is the earliest known example of a painting on a canvas?

Gmack, some of my colleagues will tell you that paintings on canvas -- at least the ones that have survived -- date from the 14th century. However, linen supports were certainly used far, far earlier -- by the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. We also know that painted cloth banners were often created for festivals and religious events in the Middle Ages. Here's a little information:
