Does the soft drink "Tahitian Treat" actually have an origin (recipe or otherwise) from Tahiti?

As most references to this drink link it to the Southern United States, I doubt it.
The commercial brand made by Dr Pepper/Seven Up is often compared to their Hawaiian Punch, whose formula was concocted in 1934 by three employees with little connection to Hawaii.
