David became King of Israel. He later organized and assembled 4000 musicians and 288 singers who were skillful in the "song of the Lord." The musicians and singers became the absorbing veil for the "glory of God." The musicians were assigned to sing and play their instruments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days per year (Roman Calendar understanding). In this scenario we know that the level of the glory was not enough to kill them, but sometimes left incapable of playing their instruments.

David instituted the musical aspects of worship in ancient Israel. Among the ensemble directors and leaders were the grandsons of the prophet Samuel, Asaf and Heman. These two wrote some of the more famous Psalms.
