The iris was named after the ancient goddess of the rainbow due to its being colourful.
What I had in mind (I think, it's a while ago) was the thymus.
It is thought that the lymphatic gland at the back of the neck was so named because it vaguely resembles a bunch of thyme, despite being pink. http://www.onelook.com/?w=thymus&1s=a
