What I've heard:
Somewhere in a warzone, they found a Bible that had a bullet shot part-way through it (it stopped the bullet). It's on display somewhere. They were moved by the thought of it.
One of my friends is crazy about them, but I don't have any other sources to cite.

The name "Bullet in a Bible" was derived from Green Day's visit to the Imperial War Museum while in England, viewing a bullet lodged in a Bible that saved the owner's life. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullet_in_a_Bible
