How is the Scottish name 'Malise' pronounced, as in 'Malise Ruthven'? I know it doesn't rhyme with the French word 'valise' - 'suitcase'.

I have heard it pronounced "mahleeze and/or malice" but do not have a reference site.

This site, which claims that "Malise" is an anglicized version of an Irish Gaelic name, pronounces it "mah-leez."
