Why is the inside of a Pop Tart hotter than the surface of the sun after only a few seconds in a toaster?

The surface of the sun is 2700 degrees F. There is no way a toaster can get anything close to those temperatures. Maybe 450 degrees at best.

Okay, so I exaggerated. But how does that filling heat up so hot, so fast?

Oh! Well then, the answer is probably that the sugar in the filling undergoes an "exothermic" reaction, which means it produces its own heat in addition to being heated in the toaster!
