Actually, the poet in "Death of an Unpopular Poet" is in reality a combination of two poets. The song was inspired by the poets Kenneth Patchen and Richard Farina, two GREAT poets, who according to Jimmy, "starved their asses off and didn't get to stick around to reap their rewards."
