I tried to look it up....I found nothing! My ex husband is a firefighter and he talked firefighter stuff incessantly...but never heard the term from him either!

Apparently this is a fringe tradition at firefighter weddings:
"coring the cake" with a wine glass or champagne flute and taking a hole out.
