There are three words depending on usage

flack [Am.] [sl.] Pressesprecher {m}
flack [coll.: criticism] heftige Kritik {f}
flack [coll.:criticism] Beschuss {m} [fig.:Kritik]

Flakartillerie - the full term, meaning anti-aircraft artillery, as found in my Langenscheidt's German dictionary.

FLAK itself is also an acronym for something regarding the German airforce, from which the word is shortened (first to flakartillerie, then simply to flak).
