Jim Morrison named himself "The Lizard King", a name taken from his poem "The Celebration of the Lizard King," which was included in the 1968 album Waiting For the Sun.

Actually the full poem was included only in the Door's "Absolutely Live" album, "Waiting For The Sun" does contain a portion of the poem entitled "Not To Touch The Earth". In this portion Jim Morrison makes the statement "I am the Lizard King, I can do anything."
