The cartoon character Foghorn Leghorn was modeled after 'Senator Claghorn', a character that regularly appeared on with comedian Fred Allen in his 'Allen's Alley' sketches. Kenny Delmar was the voice of the senator, who could not abide anything or anyone remotely 'Yankee'. (He would only go to Yankee Stadium if Dixie Walker was pitching). A movie entitled, 'That's a joke, son', with Delmar portraying the senator, was made in 1947. The character was never said to represent a certain state, but was simply 'from the south, son!'

Although 'born and raised' in the south, Foghorn Leghorn moved about the US. In one episode a western union telegram listed his home as Cucumonga, Cal.
