What character and actor replaced the character Sargent Kinchloe on "Hogan's Heroes"?

I know Ivan Dixon moved onto a successful directing career and that he was replaced by actor Kenneth Washington as "Baker." The last show of the 5th season - Kinch was there. First show of the 6th season and Baker was there. No mention of what happened to Kinch or where Baker came from.

Kenneth Washington became Sargent Baker, which took over everything Sargent Kinchloe(Ivan Dixon) did as a member of Hogan's crew. Baker never really became as great a star from Hogan's Heroes as Ivan Dixon did. Ivan Dixon is the only member of Hogan's crew that did not complete all six seasons.
