Actually, he did not hold his breath, he did breath through his nose. Later when Chandler walked in we realized that Joey did not hold his breath after all. Or maybe Phoebe already knew that Joey did not hold his breath, so she was just playing along with him.

Correct! I asked how was he, yea I remembered that episode too! Yea Chandler then walked in and held Joey's nose and Joey said, " Are you trying to kill me!" xD
