Ray Charles -- It Should Have Been Me is a 1954 blues song written by Memphis Curtis, produced by Ahmet Ertegün and recorded and released as a single by American singer Ray Charles.

The version of 'It should've been me' as used in 'The Vicar of Dibley' was recorded by 'Gladys Knight and the Pips on their 1968 album 'Feelin' Blusey'.
